Music The Mix Tapes

Mix 30

This is the music that I discovered and that carried me through my first year living in Washington, DC. I landed on March 1, 1995, came out to myself, discovered the gay social scene and dance music.

This is pure 1995 pretty much from the moment my plane landed in Washington, DC. I moved to Washington on March 1, 1995, came out to myself, discovered the gay social scene (with some help from my new friend Bob) and dance music!

I really wish iTunes had the version of “The Bomb” from this playlist. It’s about 15 minutes long and the second I hear it, I’m instantly walking into the big room of Tracks ready to dance. (Also, equally upsetting, there’s no wikipedia page for Tracks. It was a phenomenal night club.)

And “Paninaro ’95” makes me think of walking into a very crowded JR’s on a cold winter night and this song coming on. (JR’s is a row-house-turned-bar and when I say “crowded”, I mean “crammed to the gills.”)
